Floor Plan Knowledge Base

Lineweight In architectural floor plans, different lineweights are used for different elements. Each object drawn in a floor plan can be separated into 3 categories:

Objects below 4 feet

Objects "cut" to 4 feet

Objects above 4 feet

Depending on the category to which the objects belong, they will not be represented with the same line thickness. Objects less than 4 feet Objects less than 4 feet often include the floor itself, porches, decks, balconies, railings, walls that do not reach the ceiling, descending stairs, steps bottoms of ascending stairs, counters and other furniture. Sometimes the closer objects are to 4 feet, the heavier the lines can be. This includes major elements of floor plans, such as exterior walls, partitions, and structural elements. Objects above 4 feet The object above 4 feet often includes the highest steps of stairs going up, ceiling elements (Ex: opening in the floor above or cathedral ceiling), or upper cabinets. For example, less important ones, like flooring, will be in thinner lines to draw attention to the main elements. Summary Large: Cut through architectural elements, such as interior and exterior walls Medium: Doors, windows, stairs, floor boundaries, countertop, and other architectural elements viewed from above Thin: Furniture, appliances, and symbols Thin (dotted lines ): hidden objects, characteristic ceiling, risers (stairs) and more. However, if we follow the 4 foot rule, these windows will not appear in any floor plan. Some pieces of furniture are drawn as if they were seen from above even if they are cut out, like the fridge, because representing the interior of a fridge would not provide any useful detail. For example, on the ground floor, the terrace and the porch are drawn, as well as the exterior stairs and ramps.

The Different Types Of Floor Plans

Floor plans are essential for a number of real estate businesses, but having a comprehensive, easy-to-understand floor plan is key. A floor plan should be clear, realistic, and accurately display the layout of a house - accurate measurements included. Just seeing pictures of every room can confuse the layout of the house, whereas a quality floor plan will capture the total essence of a home. Offering floor plans ensures buyers, builders, renovators and others in the housing industry have what they need to see the home in its entirety. Standard floor plans are ideal for:

Real estate agents

house builders

Developers

Hospitality

Private sellers

Property managers

Custom floor plans

If you prefer to have a custom view of a home that matches your vision or an already existing space, the custom floor plan is the best option. Custom floor plans are ideal for:

Real estate agents

house builders

Developers

Hospitality

Private sellers

Property managers

Renovation Floor Plans

The last type of floor plan is a renovation floor plan. A perfectly created floor plan is an ideal way to show the construction, shape, size and layout of a home after renovations are complete. Finally, note that all renovation floor plans will meet all of the standards required to pass a city permit approval (guaranteed with urban measurement renovation floor plans). Renovation floor plans are ideal for:

Industrial workers who own property without a plan

Contractors

interior designers

Home internships

Architects

Appraisers

Select a floor plan that matches what you need to sell, build, or improve a home.
