Sunday, March 16, 2014

Nokia recently launched their first android compliant phone named Nokia X (nicknamed Nokia Normandy before announcement). It comes in 6 colors (may not be all available in some countries) and looks like a crossover with the physical aspects of the asha series and the interface of the Lumia OS (Windows 8 Mobile).

Launched here in the Philippines for the SRP of P5990, the Nokia X hopes to draw the mobile market interest back to Nokia which has been dominated by Android and iOS phones. Nokia X is technically NOT an android phone. It actually has some sort of "emulator" that can play android apps to the phone, but the whole interface and build is based on windows mobile with a different structure.

It does not have the Google Play Store to download the apps but there is a runaround to download and install android apps into the phone. The Nokia X seems to be an experiment test of the company to venture to the android-loving public. However there is still a high regard for Nokia as a reliable phone which they have built with their monochromatic mobile phones which were more than a decade before.

With the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft, the company solely promotes the Windows OS with the lumia series. However it cannot compete with cheap androids in the market which is flooding the mobile population. Nokia X hopefully will not be just the first and last, there are still a lot to work on and can be improved into a more sophisticated model. I do like their cool colors and the camera even its only 3MP.

P.S. The Phone is not mine but I borrowed it to check on all I can see to come up with this verdict. But for more specifications, check them below:
